【摘要】:Tensilepropertiesdeterminedbythistestmethodareofvaluefortheidentificationandcharacterizationofmaterialsforcontrolandspecificationpurposes.Tensilepropertiesmayvarywithspecimenthickness,methodofpreparation,speedoftesting,typeofgripsused,andmannerofmeasuringextension.Consequently,whereprecisecomparativeresultsaredesired,thesefactorsmustbecarefullycontrolled.Thistestmethodshallbeusedforrefereepurposes,unlessotherwiseindicatedinparticularmaterialspecifications.Formanymaterials,theremaybeaspecificationthatrequirestheuseofthistestmethod,butwithsomeproceduralmodificationsthattakeprecedencewhenadheringtothespecification.Therefore,itisadvisabletorefertothatmaterialspecificationbeforeusingthistestmethod.Table1inClassificationD4000liststheASTMmaterialsstandardsthatcurrentlyexist.Tensilepropertiesmaybeutilizedtoprovidedataforresearchanddevelopmentandengineeringdesignaswellasqualitycontrolandspecification.However,datafromsuchtestscannotbeconsideredsignificantforapplicationsdifferingwidelyfromtheload-timescaleofthetestemployed.Thetensilemodulusofelasticityisanindexofthestiffnessofthinplasticsheeting.Thereproducibilityoftestresultsisgoodwhenprecisecontrolismaintainedoveralltestconditions.Whendifferentmaterialsarebeingcomparedforstiffness,specimensofidenticaldimensionsmustbeemployed.Thetensileenergytobreak(TEB)isthetotalenergyabsorbedperunitvolumeofthespecimenuptothepointofrupture.Insometextsthispropertyhasbeenreferredtoastoughness.Itisusedtoevaluatematerialsthatmaybesubjectedtoheavyabuseorthatmightstallwebtransportequipmentintheeventofamachinemalfunctioninend-useapplications.However,therateofstrain,specimenparameters,andespeciallyflawsmaycauselargevariationsintheresults.Inthatsense,cautionisadvisedinutilizingTEBtestresultsforend-usedesignapplications.Materialsthatfailbytearinggiveanomalousdatawhichcannotbecomparedwiththosefromnormalfailure.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationoftensilepropertiesofplasticsintheformofthinsheeting,includingfilm(lessthan1.0mm(0.04in.)inthickness).Note18212;Filmhasbeenarbitrarilydefinedassheetinghavingnominalthicknessnotgreaterthan0.25mm(0.010in.).Note28212;Tensilepropertiesofplastics1.0mm(0.04in.)orgreaterinthicknessshallbedeterminedaccordingtoTestMethodD638.1.2Thistestmethodmaybeusedtotestallplasticswithinthethicknessrangedescribedandthecapacityofthemachineemployed.1.2.1StaticWeighing,Constant-Rate-of-GripSeparationTest8212;Thistestmethodemploysaconstantrateofseparationofthegripsholdingtheendsofthetestspecimen.1.3Specimenextensionmaybemeasuredinthesetestmethodsbygripseparation,extensionindicators,ordisplacementofgagemarks.1.4Aprocedurefordeterminingthetensilemodulusofelasticityisincludedatonestrainrate.Note38212;Themodulusdeterminationisgenerallybasedontheuseofgripseparationasameasureofextension;however,thedesirabilityofusingextensometers,asdescribedin5.2,isrecognizedandprovisionfortheuseofsuchinstrumentationisincorporatedintheprocedure.1.5Testdataobtainedbythistestmethodisrelevantandappropriateforuseinengineeringdesign.1.6ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesinparenthesesareprovidedforinformationonly.1.7Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsus......
